Meike is 29 and was brought up near Munich, started riding when she was six,
and acquired her first horse when she was twelve. She decided the horse was not made
for Eventing (which was her first interest) so at age 13, she started a career in pure
Dressage. She and the horse progressed rapidly and within three years, they were
competing in their first Advanced Dressage competition.
Through her teens, Meike trained two horses up to Grand Prix level and three
others up to Advanced level for different owners in Germany.
She decided at 20 that she had had enough of just Dressage (not exciting enough!) and started to compete as an eventer as well. She has competed at CCI** level in Germany, alongside Grand Prix Dressage competitions.
Working for the Holstein Verband in '97 she gained an insight into breeding as
well as daily stud routine and developing young horses for selling on.
Meike did most of her Dressage training with Jochen Leicht (a pupil of Gunther
Festerling) and trained for Eventing with Wolfgang Winter, reserve rider for the
German Olympic eventing squad in Atlanta. She also attended a number of clinics
with Ulla Salzgeber, Bettina Hoy and Clayton Fredericks. She is an accomplished
Event rider with a Dressage specialism, and helps Polly with her dressage riding
and producing, developing and competing young horses.
