My Diary

Polly Jackson Hi, it's me! This section of the website is for my own personal commentary on the Eventing season. Feel free to read my ramblings below to gain an insight on what it's like to ride professionally.

Never count your chickens!

Never count your chickens!

I had a good but rather mixed two days at Witton, with four horses competing ? Percy and Dick in the Open Intermediate, Joey in a Novice class and Mickey HC also in the Novice. Friday went really well, with two good Dressage tests on the ?big boys? ? Percy best in class with a 31.0 followed by a great clear in the showjumping, and Dick a 34.3 and just one down. The ground was good but a bit sticky, and Percy?s was one of only four clears round a ?full-up? showjumping course.

So Percy was in the lead going into cross country and gave me a great ride. That is until the very last fence, when unfortunately he saw one stride and I saw another! Such a shame as he really deserved the win, but on reflection I think the heavy ground had taken more out of him than I realised.

And then the day got better, with Joey earning a good 4th place in the Novice. He started with a lovely test for a 31.9, two poles in the showjumping and a great clear cross country round.

Mickey also did her stuff, posting a good, training double-clear. Belton here we come!
