Houghton International CCI*

I took just one horse to this new CCI*/CCI** competition. It is a lovely venue and we had tremendous changes in the weather over the five days we were there ? bright, hot summer sun to start and cold, torrential rain to finish off Sunday!Henry (Bournston Highland Charm) produced a very nice Dressage test on Friday, putting me in 13th place overnight with a score of 47.1. The Cross Country course rode well and Henry was jumping and galloping beautifully for the first 12 tests. Unfortunately his lack of experience of jumping through things let us down at the 13th fence, a straightforward, solid fence with a low picture frame around it. We are already designing a new practice jump at home! However, he finished really well, only just outside the time. A very pleasant dinner with family and owners followed on Saturday evening. Henry?s showjumping round on Sunday was foot-perfect and faultless, so we finished on a high and owners Paul and Christine Kilmister (and their Henry) were happy with their new Aussie?s progress.

Well done poll, what a sweet horse!
